As predicted Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola struggled at the box office on day one as early collections for day one suggest a 6.50 crore nett first day. The film is the first major release of the year with a release of 1900 screens but it could not make a mark at the box office.
The collections are far better at multiplexes than single screens in all circuits. Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola will actually turn out to be the second biggest opening ever of Imran Khan behind Mere Brother Ki Dulhan but that is more due to wider release today and the 6 or 7 crore opening days today are not what they were a couple of years back.
